Addison County

Location: Western middle of the state
Though one of the few counties without any resident ATV clubs, Addison County nevertheless boasts some popular 4-wheeler trails. It is one of the six counties that call themselves home to the 400,000-acre Green Mountain National Forest which offers popular ATV riding trails and UTV riding trails with spectacular views and an abundance of area wildlife including beaver, moose, coyote, black bear, white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and ruffed grouse. Additionally in this county, Lincoln Gap Road is a steep and narrow ATV riding road that connects the Champlain Valley with the Mad River Valley, offering spectacular views along the way, and the Robert Frost Memorial Drive provides riders with beauty and solemnity that likely inspired much of Frost’s poetry.
Bennington County

Location: Southeastern border of the state
When it comes to riding ATV, Vermont has Bennington County, home of many of the most popular ATV trails in the state. The 48-mile Molly Stark Trail is a moderately used trail that offers something for all skill levels. A beautiful and simply fantastic drive, it includes spectacular views of rich farmlands, mountains, rivers, and foliage. The popular Bromley Mountain trail, part of the Appalachian system, offers riders 6 miles of trail marked by white trail blazes. Utley Brook Trail North is ideal for families of varying skill levels and offers an up-close and personal view of dense wooded areas. Jack Pines Pirates trail system provides over 30 miles of a variety of terrains, including hard pack, loose dirt, gravel, grass and paved roads. The 2.2-mile Freedley Quarry out and back trail is generally considered ideal for newbies and novice ATV riders, and the 3.1-mile Kelly Camp trail offers a fairly secluded forest road to get away from it all.

Vermont’s Long Trail starts in Williamstown, VT, in this county, providing 272 miles of trails along with 166 miles of side trails. Running the length of the state, following the main ridge of the Green Mountains from the Massachusetts-Vermont border, to the Canadian border, it’s the oldest long-distance trail in the U.S. having been constructed by the Green Mountain Club between 1910 and 1930.
Orleans County
