Bear Lake Valley

You’ll find some of the best snowmobile trails in Utah in the Bear Lake Valley area, providing access to over 350-miles of groomed snowmobile trails and off-trail wilderness areas spanning northern Utah to southeastern Idaho, The area includes some of Utah’s most scenic spots as you wind your way through forested canyons and powder meadows, past winter waterfalls and switchback snowy peaks 9,000 ft above sea level, to breathtaking views of the lake itself located between the Tetons and the Uinta Mountains. The 6.5-mile Beaver Creek trail is a good starting point, and keep an eye open for the more challenging Garden City trail which provides a good opportunity for seeing Utah wildlife, while leading you to both the Sinks Road Trail, with its many turnoffs allowing prime exploration, and the 34-mile St. Charles Canyon/Fish Haven Loop, which has proven itself a destination for winter thrill-seekers.
Cedar Mountains Snowmobile Complex
Location: Located 45 miles west of Salt Lake City
Located in the Dixie National Forest, this area provides some of the best places to go snowmobiling in southern Utah with over 100 miles of groomed snowmobiling trails. The spectacular scenic views along the way include not only the forest, but also Zion National Park when you’re on the Lars Fork Trail and the Cedar Breaks National Monument when you’re traversing the High Mountain Trail. The Brian Head Trail is another popular area trail offering jaw dropping high mountain and vista views, as you approach 11,000 feet above sea level. Sage Valley Trail is preferred by those who seek out the narrow, tightly wooded trails through a forest environment of aspen and mixed pine. Watch out for a steep section of trail located near the junction with the Duck Creek trail, an often-bumpy, quite narrow path that offers snowmobiling challenges regardless of your experience level.
Heber Valley

With some of the best snowmobile trails in the state, the area offers over 1,000 miles of trails, 200 miles of which are groomed – through a wide variety of dramatic mountain, forest, meadow and plateau terrain – so you never have to repeat yourself. With lots of deep snow, this is a prime area for exploring and making your own path in the pristine Utah wilderness. While you’re in the area, you may want to experience the alpine terrain of Wasatch Mountain State Park, the second largest state park in Utah, which offers around 70 miles of well-groomed snowmobile trails – including the longest trail in the area at 15.7 miles round trip, Mill Flat Trail, which is challenging, especially for beginning riders, but worth the effort thanks to the beautiful views of Lone Peak and Mount Timpanogos.
Nebo Loop Snowmobile Complex
Location: Access through Payson and Salt Creek Canyon trailheads in Utah County
This area provides a beautiful area to ride snowmobile, offering both groomed and ungroomed trails, along with many turnoffs ripe for exploration. But, keep in mind, the area is often steep and prone to life-threatening avalanches, and has limited services, so take all needed precautions. Elevations reach as high as 9,200 feet above sea level, filled with stunningly breathtaking vistas. This area has interconnecting trails to other snowmobile complexes so you can go for days without getting off your sled if you so choose.
Park City
Location: North-central part of the state in Summit County

Located on the back of the majestic Wasatch and Uinta Mountain ranges, this vast wilderness area serves as a hub for snowmobiling adventures, providing an outstanding experience for sledders of all skill levels with its high peaks, sweeping bowls of powder and untouched mountain meadows. Skyline Snowmobile Complex (Ephraim/Manti/Mayfield)

Here you have the opportunity to go high mountain sledding in the state, getting 8,000 to 10,000 feet above sea level, in what is generally an uncrowded part of central Utah. There are 140 miles of groomed trails throughout the thousands of acres of forest. Or if you’re feeling more adventurous, you can head out into the mountain valleys and open fields of fresh snow. Many other trails connect with those in the Skyline South complex as well as the Scofield Snowmobile complex to the north, giving you many options for your winter excursions. Snowfall in this area often reaches nearly ten feet.
Strawberry Snowmobile Complex
Location: One hour from Salt Lake City, UT, and can be accessed at 8 different trailheads
Considered one of the best places to snowmobile in Utah and the largest snowmobile complex in the state, the Strawberry complex connects with the Mirror Lake and Mill Hollow complexes to offer 250 miles of groomed trails through a varied terrain – including thousands of acres of rolling hills and valleys, and vast open space, combined with majestic Uinta Mountains, which reach 13,000 feet in elevation. One of the family-favorite snowmobile trails in this area is the 25.6-mile Daniels Loop Trail, which weaves leisurely through tall evergreens and aspens. The 12.9-mile Starvation Creek Trail follows an old railroad grade through the oaks and pinion-juniper forest, while providing an awe-inspiring opportunity to see herds of wintering deer and elk. And one of the most popular Utah snowmobile trails, the 37.5-mile Strawberry trail, follows the shores of the Strawberry Reservoir to Renegade Point before climbing into the tree-covered slopes. while offering several side loop trails that give you excellent opportunities to explore new country.
