Bighorn Mountains
Bighorns are huge, rugged, awe-inspiring, and offer endless opportunities for snowmobiling adventures, with immense expanses of terrain, and including both more than 190 groomed trails encompassing nearly 400 miles in the Big Horn National Forest, and at least another 50 miles of exploration-worthy backcountry. Plus, in this area, there is never a shortage of snowfall, which guarantees a long snowmobiling season. Elevations range from 7,500 to 10,000 feet above sea level as the trails roll over steep hills and weave through unbroken glades of snow. Very much a cooperative effort, maintenance of this trails is handled by the Wyoming Department of State Parks & Cultural Resources Division of State Parks, Historic Sites and Trails, the U.S. Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management and local snowmobile clubs.
